hexchat-python2 software package provides Python 2 plugin for HexChat, you can install in your Debian 9 (Stretch) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install hexchat-python2
hexchat-python2 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the hexchat-python2 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hexchat-python2 *
You will get with hexchat-python2 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
